Title: Internist Physician
Department: Adult Medicine
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Provides comprehensive primary health care including health promotion and disease prevention activities for CHS patients. Responsible for the provision of quality health care for acute and chronic medical problems; follows hospitalized patients as appropriate, to assure continuity of care. Refer patients to appropriate specialists and consultants for diagnosis and treatment procedures when indicated. Generally acts as health advocate for assigned patients.
DUTIES :
Provides direct health care to patients, ages 16 and up, presenting for care at CHS with or without appointments. In special cir! cumstances, treating patients who are younger than 16 years of! age.
Where indicated, obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Establishing diagnosis. Reviews patients records.
Performs clinical services to patients who present with illness or disease.
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Instructs patient regarding medications and treatment instructions.
Adheres to established clinical protocols and procedures.
Maintains adequate and legible patient medical records in the established chart.
Supervise or participate in patient emergencies as required.
Observe all infection control procedures.
Fulfills HRSA and health center productivity standards.
Follow established health center procedures for patient billing and reimbursement.
Participate in quality assurance and ! other committee activities as assigned.
Provision professional supervision of assigned staff.
Participate in staff medical education programs and patient health education activities as required.
Reports any discrepancies, irregularities, and/or violations involving clinical care, administrative procedure, billing issues, or other Health Center protocols to their immediate supervisor and/or the Health Centers Chief Medical Officer.
Maintain professional competence by completing appropriate specialty requirements of CME.
Maintain current certifications.
Attends required meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
Assists with the training of assigned staff.
Maintain strictest confidentiality.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Performs related work as required.
Education :
Graduate of approved medical ! school.
Board certified or Board eligible in Internal Medicine! .
Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut.
Eligible to obtain a federal and state narcotic registration.
Experience :
1-2 years in health care setting preferred.
J-1/ H1 accepted.
