The University of Connecticut is pleased to announce our search for additional Academic Internal Medicine Physicians Internists to join our faculty.

Our academic teaching program is in search of Academic career oriented physicians in either an inpatient or outpatient role seeking to grow within the UConn environment. Our collegial environment fosters academic pursuits lead by a number of former Chief Residents at the UConn training program. We enjoy very low turnover in our staff which is the result of a reasonable work load and schedule, encouraging the pursuit of academic interests and a supportive administration.

UConn encourages diversification of academic interests and pursuits. Clinical positions are a pathway to career growth at UConn. Administrative, teaching and research options will be available as you develop your academic interests and career. Our clinicians have been promoted to Program Directors, Chairmen, and Deans. We welcome interests in Quality Control, Patient Outcomes and Faculty Development.

The University fosters extensive medical research, providing research opportunities for those physicians who wish to pursue competitive grants. The development of a State funded Biosciences Connecticut Project and a collaborative project with Jackson Labs for Genomic Medicine will lead to the investment of about 2 billion dollars in the UConn Health Center starting in 2012. There are a range of projects planned including a new hospital, a new ambulatory patient care tower and the hiring of clinical, clinical translational and basic science faculty.

Salary will be determined based on qualifications, rank and experience. There may be an option for productivity bonuses. Malpractice indemnity is also provided. Under state law, you are immune from being personally sued while acting in the discharge of your University responsibilities. Also, there is no tail insurance premium cost to you if you leave the University. Paid vacation, attractive insurance and retirement benefits, CME allowances, sabbatical leave, and certain tuition waivers for family dependents also are standard benefits offered by the University.

The University of Connecticut Health Center is located in Farmington, just west of Hartford, CT. A mature suburban community, Farmington offers a wide variety of community, cultural and recreational activities. Its school districts are excellent and the housing market offers opportunities for living in turn-of-the-century homes or building a custom home in a new development.

With affordable housing, excellent schools and nationally recognized colleges in the region, a very low crime rate and minimal traffic, Farmington offers a vibrant mix of urban and rural settings. Farmington is conveniently located within driving distance to major cities, including Boston, New York and Hartford. The main University of Connecticut campus with athletic, educational and social events is located about 45 minutes away in Storrs. The four seasons of New England provide a beautiful fall experience, winter skiing in nearby Vermont and the Berkshires, and summer escape to nearby beaches, Cape Cod and the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Bradley International Airport is located just a short drive away on I-91.
